Henriette in Paris

A man in Paris… and a woman in Paris… everyone envisions a beautiful romance in the city of love certainly. The reality is not always this…at least not in my case. Even though my parisian hero and heroine live only six kilometers far from each other, they don’t really have much in common, except from their town and the fact that me, personally, I like them both a lot.

I have already introduced you to Monsieur Bleu, now let me present you my heroine, Henriette, this warm-hearted, friendly and beautiful hotel that I have accidentally bumped into several times recently on the internet…she wanted me to write about her…

This relatively new funky boutique hotel on a brick-paved side street in the 9th arrondissement is just a 10-minute walk from Jardin des Plantes botanical garden, close to the Mouffetard district. The enchanting, unique Hotel Henriette offers a very intimate experience for visitors with its 32 individually designed bright rooms, lounge with a wide selection of reading matter and secret garden. The Latest Hoxton Hotel

This month, London’s “lo-frills hip hotel brand”, the Hoxton opened their first foreign outpost in Amsterdam, in five 17th century canal houses on the Unesco-listed Herengracht. (The brand plans to open two other outputs next year, one in Paris and an other in New York.) The five townhouses – that used to be home to the Mayor centuries ago – were entirely renovated and redesigned by a local interior designer team, the Nicemakers (mentioned in the previous post). As a result, today they house chic 111 rooms spread across five floors with plenty of quirks including some monumental ceilings and lots of canal views, as the hotel has two canals, on each side of the houses (the Herengracht and Singel canals). Downstairs there’s the restaurant Lotti’s run in partnership with Soho House & Co, plus they also have ‘The Apartment’ a meeting and events space and a mezzanine bar called ‘Up Top’. Thanks to the thoughtful planning and design, the Hoxton Amsterdam offers way more than just a bed&breakfast concept.
