In the previous post I guided you to a New York concept loft, Witness Apartment that is utilised in various creative ways. Today – as promised earlier – I would like to show you another wonderful concept loft. The talented team of The Playing Circle is constantly on the hunt for exceptional artists and craftsmen to bring their finest creations to a unique loft space in the Dutch capital.  Tomorrow is a big day for them, as they are opening the forth edition of The Loft  – again with a carefully curated, refined furnishing. The Loft will be open from the 14th till the 22nd of January 2017, so for those lucky ones of you who are based in Amsterdam or visiting the city these days, I highly recommend to check out this inspiring space at Vijzelstraat 77 III, 1017 HG Amsterdam. (You can see more information about the event on Facebook.)

The Latest Hoxton Hotel

1074999-1_og_gallery

This month, London’s “lo-frills hip hotel brand”, the Hoxton opened their first foreign outpost in Amsterdam, in five 17th century canal houses on the Unesco-listed Herengracht. (The brand plans to open two other outputs next year, one in Paris and an other in New York.) The five townhouses – that used to be home to the Mayor centuries ago – were entirely renovated and redesigned by a local interior designer team, the Nicemakers (mentioned in the previous post). As a result, today they house chic 111 rooms spread across five floors with plenty of quirks including some monumental ceilings and lots of canal views, as the hotel has two canals, on each side of the houses (the Herengracht and Singel canals). Downstairs there’s the restaurant Lotti’s run in partnership with Soho House & Co, plus they also have ‘The Apartment’ a meeting and events space and a mezzanine bar called ‘Up Top’. Thanks to the thoughtful planning and design, the Hoxton Amsterdam offers way more than just a bed&breakfast concept.

Hotspots: SLA

SLAII_1-941x519

As I mentioned in the previous post I like the Jordaan in Amsterdam very much. It is probably the most known neighbourhood of Amsterdam, famous for its narrow streets and small courtyards, the canals, and cool hotspots: shops, authentic cafés, all types of restaurants, lunch & brunch places and bars. I spent a lot of my free time in that area when I lived there. I loved to just simply get lost in the little streets, explore fantastic shops, galleries, beautiful houses and finish the day in a nice café or restaurant. Today I will show you my beloved and often-visited healthy brunch & lunch place in the Jordaan, called SLA.

A Converted Factory in Amsterdam

Kitchen-diner

When I was writing the previous post about intimate terraces I again bumped into a photo of a lovely terrace that is part of a splendid loft in Amsterdam. Not only because I absolutely worship lofts but also because the Jordaan is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Amsterdam, I decided to show you over this fantastic home in the following post. So here we go…
