When lacking ideas, a lot of interior designers turn to design galleries to find inspiration. Not only because taking ideas out from similar media, there’s a fine line between “inspired by” and “copied”; but also because going back to nature is always a good (better) choice, I would like to show you from time to time how Mother Nature can inspire us when designing interiors.
The inspirational opportunities present in the natural world around us is unbelievably huge, we can be inspired by billions of things: oceans, seas, lakes, rivers, mountains, the sky, stars, landscapes, stones, trees, plants and animals. It is relatively common that artists – painters, sculptors, musicians, etc – take inspiration out of the nature surrounding them, but we don’t talk about this source of inspiration that often in the field of interiors. Therefore I will dedicate a whole category for this, focusing on animals.
The first post in this category will be about one of the most special birds: flamingos. These social birds (living in colonies whose population can number in the thousands) often stand prettily on only one of their thin legs, while the other leg is tucked beneath the body. I personally find their incomparable color and graceful shape utterly inspiring.
Enjoy the following gallery with pictures of flamingos and interiors, design pieces, and furnitures that somehow remind me of flamingos. (Please note, I’m not going to show flamingo-pattern fabrics and wallpapers…)
And last but not least, a hint again for the next post:
