I stumbled upon the fantastic oeuvres of well-known French artist, Claire Basler a few years ago in an Elle Decor magazine displaying her previous home&studio and some of her paintings. Back at that time she lived in a former schoolhouse converted to a home&studio in Les Ormes, right outside of Paris. I fell in love with her delightful floral paintings as well as the interior itself. I haven’t foreseen she can further enhance the visual joy in her new home but she could, definitely. When I saw the lovely and creative walls of Hotel Henriette in the previous post I thought about Claire’s wonderful murals and decided to show you over her current home today.
She and her husband bought the Chateau Beauvoir, an old castle in Échassières, close to Vichy. The building needed an entire renovation (there was no heating or water in it when they purchased it). Today the chateau is their home and of course Claire’s studio too. The interior filled with living and painted flowers is very impressive and dreamy. Thanks to the renovation and Claire’s beautiful art the historic castle has entirely resuscitated and the result is an utterly timeless atmosphere, a dramatic interior in which nature reigns.
Take an imaginary tour in this French wonderland where most rooms have murals which Claire had painted:
