In the previous post I guided you to a New York concept loft, Witness Apartment that is utilised in various creative ways. Today – as promised earlier – I would like to show you another wonderful concept loft. The talented team of The Playing Circle is constantly on the hunt for exceptional artists and craftsmen to bring their finest creations to a unique loft space in the Dutch capital. Tomorrow is a big day for them, as they are opening the forth edition of The Loft – again with a carefully curated, refined furnishing. The Loft will be open from the 14th till the 22nd of January 2017, so for those lucky ones of you who are based in Amsterdam or visiting the city these days, I highly recommend to check out this inspiring space at Vijzelstraat 77 III, 1017 HG Amsterdam. (You can see more information about the event on Facebook.)
When writing the previous post I found out about a unique concept loft in New York City that I wanted to present you, because I was pretty sure you would love it.
One year, four transformations, one space reimagined. Witness Apartment is an extraordinary two-bedroom loft in the very heart of New York City which gives the opportunity to one interior designer every three months to fully redesign it, bring in their own style, vision and team up with emerging industrial designers and established furniture brands to fill this huge space. The 2000 square foot concept loft serves as a canvas for exploration for our digital network and project partners, and provides visitors with valuable ideas and inspiration. It is also possible to purchase our favorite piece of design and art. Continue Reading
Today I would like to show you a super-cheap way to decorate and revitalize any space of your home: washi tape. With this material you can make a real difference in a room in only a few minutes. You only need to buy enough rolls, have to plan the shapes ahead or do it in a spontaneous way if you are brave and talented enough. In my opinion the most stylish color is black – of course! – but you can purchase the tape in various colors.
Like I anticipated in the last post, today I bring you some work space inspiration.
Work spaces have to enable you to get inspired, be focused and sit comfortably for hours. They have to be personal and cosy so that you like working there but they mustn’t detract your attention. Creating the ideal workstation or home office is a relatively challenging task. Not only because many times people don’t have enough space for it in their homes, but also because one has to take into consideration a lot of factors, such as lights, windows, noise, other everyday activities done in the same room, etc.
Choosing to paint walls gray in a bedroom is not a very common idea and one can be surprised hearing about it. The general assumption might be that gray in a bedroom makes the atmosphere sad and depressing. However, there are many ways to create a fantastic mood with such a brave choice and the result can be an enviably stylish and elegant bedroom. In this post, I will show you how to achieve different, but equally adorable effects and moods in gray-wall bedrooms.
Every time I notice a SMEG fridge my pupils expand – I guess – from the cheery, characteristic retro view. Whenever I see one in a kitchen it feels like spotting a Fiat500 or a Vespa on the street: it’s love at first sight – for the hundredth time. Not a big surprise that SMEG, just like these two automotive brands is also Italian. Among cars, scooters and now apparently among fridges my genre is definitely the Italian. When I saw that fridge in the kitchen of ‘The Apartment’ in Hoxton Amsterdam (see the picture below) I decided to dedicate this post to SMEG, the most stylish refrigerator on Earth. Continue Reading
I have always found it fascinating how chairs, small seats, armchairs, ottomans, sofas can totally reborn when they get reupholstered. (It caught my eye in Hanne Berzant’s home as well that she gave a new dress to her favorite armchair recently – see the image below) The style of furnitures can be completely reinvented by choosing a cool new fabric, and of course not only that certain piece of furniture itself but also the whole room where it is placed can get a very different ambiance.
Hanne and Søren Berzant’s home near Copenhagen has always been a perfect example of Nordic aesthetics. Their 280 m2 turn-of-the-century apartment was refined, simple yet luxorious, bright and airy, the dominant colours, textures and materials were all natural. All the rooms were tastefully decorated with a Scandinavian touch of course. She and her family has recently moved to a villa in the north of Copenhagen and even though you can feel it is not 100% ready yet, the designer’s excellent taste has already appeared in every corner. Hanne is a designer and owner of a gorgeous Danish brand By Nord so no surprise we can always find quite some strategically placed By Nord products around their house.
We’ve seen the importance of metallic colour tones in modern design rising in the past few years, and within this phenomenon the trend for copper starting for a bit more than two years now. This year the trend has just skyrocketed, you cannot miss seeing some copper in every single vitrine of design shops.
Also almost every design magazine mentioned in their recent issues that Dulux Colour of the Year for 2015 is ‘Copper Blush’. This colour has depth, warmth, and it’s simply surprising, it’s a beautiful element of the natural palette of the earth.
Copper combines perfectly with pinks, neutrals, whites and other orange hues, as well as with greens – let it be a plant or some cool mint.
The colour combo copper and blush is currently one of my favorites. Different blush colours in perfect harmony with copper tones – It is romantic yet foxy and hot. I absolutely adore it! Continue Reading
