In the previous post I guided you to a New York concept loft, Witness Apartment that is utilised in various creative ways. Today – as promised earlier – I would like to show you another wonderful concept loft. The talented team of The Playing Circle is constantly on the hunt for exceptional artists and craftsmen to bring their finest creations to a unique loft space in the Dutch capital. Tomorrow is a big day for them, as they are opening the forth edition of The Loft – again with a carefully curated, refined furnishing. The Loft will be open from the 14th till the 22nd of January 2017, so for those lucky ones of you who are based in Amsterdam or visiting the city these days, I highly recommend to check out this inspiring space at Vijzelstraat 77 III, 1017 HG Amsterdam. (You can see more information about the event on Facebook.)
I stumbled upon the fantastic oeuvres of well-known French artist, Claire Basler a few years ago in an Elle Decor magazine displaying her previous home&studio and some of her paintings. Back at that time she lived in a former schoolhouse converted to a home&studio in Les Ormes, right outside of Paris. I fell in love with her delightful floral paintings as well as the interior itself. I haven’t foreseen she can further enhance the visual joy in her new home but she could, definitely. When I saw the lovely and creative walls of Hotel Henriette in the previous post I thought about Claire’s wonderful murals and decided to show you over her current home today.
As I mentioned in the previous post I like the Jordaan in Amsterdam very much. It is probably the most known neighbourhood of Amsterdam, famous for its narrow streets and small courtyards, the canals, and cool hotspots: shops, authentic cafés, all types of restaurants, lunch & brunch places and bars. I spent a lot of my free time in that area when I lived there. I loved to just simply get lost in the little streets, explore fantastic shops, galleries, beautiful houses and finish the day in a nice café or restaurant. Today I will show you my beloved and often-visited healthy brunch & lunch place in the Jordaan, called SLA.
I’ve been sitting in hot spell for a few days now, so after writing the previous post about that fantastic house in California with that stunning terrace, I started daydreaming of fabulous covered terraces like theirs. Today, I brought a careful selection of wonderful, peaceful and literally cool terraces that will surely carry you away – no matter where you are reading this blog post right now.
Here you will find various styles of terraces, with different furnitures, plants, and flowers, their sizes also vary, but some things are true for all of them: they are intimate, relaxing and resourcing + their owners are very very lucky people!
When lacking ideas, a lot of interior designers turn to design galleries to find inspiration. Not only because taking ideas out from similar media, there’s a fine line between “inspired by” and “copied”; but also because going back to nature is always a good (better) choice, I would like to show you from time to time how Mother Nature can inspire us when designing interiors.
